The MEY Hotel, a former 19th Century coaching Inn has been recently refurbished to a high standard and now offers 5 beautifully decorated en-suite rooms. The rooms, which were originally stables are located around a small pretty courtyard and are at ground level. Being the only licensed hotel in the area guarantees that our residents have the opportunity of evening meals onsite without the need to travel.

Conveniently located on the NC500 in the village of Mey, it is the perfect destination hotel to visit the Castle of Mey, John o Groats, Dunnet Head or to visit Orkney as the Pentland Ferry terminal is just a 5-minute drive away.

We invite our residents to relax in our cosy lounge bar and encourage you to partake in what we call the DDD….. digital detox with a dram. A wonderful way to relax, de-stress and re-fresh the soul.

Our restaurant offers traditional freshly cooked food with special dishes on offer alongside the different seasons. NB: whilst we do accept non-residents for dinner, we will always prioritise our residents for tables. During the main season table availability is very limited. There is a 10% additional charge for non-residents.

We have 5 acres of unspoilt woodland to the rear of the hotel where we encourage you to take a relaxing stroll and partake in some ‘forest bathing’, slow down, take some deep calming breaths, enjoy the fresh Highland air & bathe in the peace and quiet.

We are a husband & wife run, 3* country hotel with a warm, friendly relaxed atmosphere offering food that is freshly cooked to order. We are not a city centre, 5 star, 24hr manned reception with multiple staff members and constant high speed broadband. If you think this may be an issue, then maybe we are not the right choice for you. The building is 200yrs old and has lots of charm and character. Rooms are warm, cosy, well decorated and spotlessly clean but we are in a rural location with very little around. The weather is sometimes cold and is unfortunately outside of our control but that is what makes Scotland so lush,green and beautiful.
