We were passing here on our NC500 trip and were able to park our campervan in the car park overnight for free. The owners, Euan and Emma are a lovely... read more couple, Euan is the chef and Emma is front of house. Their daughter Caitlin was also serving. We had a lovely meal - homemade chicken and chorizo pie and fish and chips. Emma made me an amazing Espresso Meytini (martini) with the local coffee vodka from the Dunnet Head distillery. They were very friendly and accommodating and we would highly recommend. The next day when we were touring the distillery we even bumped into Euan again which was lovely.

Staying at the Castle of Mey , we were tourists and newcomers to the area so very reliant on Trip Advisor reviews to find somewhere for an evening meal... read more .. The Castle staff here spoke highly of their neighbours at the Castle Arms , and being local , they know the best spots .. so we took their advice .
The owners, Emma and Ewan , are the new custodians of this famous old coaching house on the doorstep of the Royal Castle of Mey and are making a superb job of putting the area on the culinary map with their simple , locally sourced menu ..
The Caithness Mey steak pie was quite literally an amazing dish .. (long slow cooked beef , locally brewed stout ale and a lot of patience and love are the vitally ingredients ) which my wife loved and I had the chicken & chorizo pie also superb .... alongside a great choice of starter dishes and homemade deserts this was a superb , home cooked style meal ..
There is no doubt this place will get busier and busier as word gets round .. the best restaurants worldwide are developed through word of mouth .. and these guys are at the beginning of that trajectory .. go now , while it’s still possible to get a table and afford to buy that Caithness Mey pie !
